Dynamics of plate boundary zones: Modeling of space-based geodetic measurements and geologically constrained fault slip rates; Evolution of fault systems; Relationships between earthquake activity and the long-term behavior of geologic structures

Theoretical geomorphology: Orogen evolution in response to changes in tectonic and climatic forcing; Analysis of high resolution digital elevation models; Numerical modeling of transient landscape evolution.

Regions of active research: Pacific-North America plate boundary, the India-Asia collision zone, Japan, Hawaii, and the North Anatolian fault zone.
